Disk Filling Update 4.0.1

Prior to this update, cached files were not not expired correctly. This update fixes this issue as well as updates the squid configuration files to remove obsolete options that could cause squid to not start correctly.


System Update 4.0.1

  • When attempting to add a host to disable caching, the UI would not allow 255.255.255.255 to be a subnet mask. This has been addressed.
  • After installing the previous update, email would be sent to admin daily warning about checking for defined(). This as been addressed.
  • With previous versions of squid, the possibility of filling up the disk-space was present. This has been addressed with a newer version of squid.

This security package contains an updated version of wu-ftpd. The previous version of wu-ftpd could possibly allowed remote users, even without an account, to gain root access.

  • The root password was being stored in a plain-text file. This issue is resolved.
  • Upgraded FTP server.
  • Repaired log cache statistics generation and log rotation.
  • Fixed Empty Cache function in the user interface.
  • Fixed problem with nightly cache statistics reports
  • Fixed problems with Install Software function in user interface.
  • A newer version of cache software has been installed to deal with problems that were found when attempting to cache Hotmail. Hotmail's site cannot be cached.
  • Changes were made to the configuration files to streamline some performance issues.

This package contains an updated kernel for all the MIPS(el) based products. It fixes some security issues, as well as adds a bit more functionality for newer applications.

WARNING: If you have installed a third party application on your machine you should check with the vendor of that application before installing this kernel upgrade. Some third party applications install a modified kernel in order to facilitate thier functionality. Installing this kernel upgrade could affect that functionality. Do not install this upgrade if you have an ISDN Sun Cobalt Qube appliance.


Sun Cobalt CacheRaQ Update 3.0

NOTE: This upgrade is for the Sun Cobalt CacheRaQ only! No previous patches or upgrades are required to install this upgrade.

This upgrade provides the following benefits:

  • Improved performance (approx. 30%) especially under high load.
  • Bug fixes for InstaCache clustering software.
  • Improved long-running reliability of the core caching software.

NOTE: This upgrade causes the contents of your cache to be removed. The cache will naturally refill itself in anywhere from a few days to a week or two depending on your load. During this time your hit rate and bandwidth savings will be slightly lower than usual.
